From a Kick VOD to clips, step by step
-
Copy the VOD's link
A
kick.com/video/…link, or a recording on your PC. No Kick account is needed. - Press Generate clips The VOD is downloaded and transcribed on your machine, and every stretch of it is scored on what was said, how it sounded and how it looked.
- Pick what goes out Everything that cleared the bar comes back as a 9:16 clip with captions and a title, not a fixed handful. Trim, restyle or drop clips in the editor.
- Upload, or let it post The clips are files on your PC. Put them on TikTok, YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels by hand, or turn on publishing.
Kick throws its chat away, so the video has to speak
Kick keeps no chat replay once a stream ends. On Twitch, chat is a useful hint about which moments landed. On Kick there is nothing to read, so a clipper that leans on audience reaction has nothing to lean on.
That is fine here, because audience data was only ever a small capped bonus. Everything that does the real work is measured from the video itself:
What was said
A local language model reads the transcript for hooks, revelations, strong opinions and quotable lines.
What it sounded like
Loudness spikes against a rolling median, laughter-shaped bursts, and the silence-then-explosion shape that marks a payoff.
What it looked like
Scene cuts, motion, and sudden changes in how much of the frame a face fills: a lean into the camera is someone reacting.
Each signal is normalised within your own video, so a calm chat stream and a shouting one both produce meaningful peaks. Nothing is scored against some average of other people's content.
Whatever the stream looks like
Talking and IRL
This is what it is tuned for. The crop holds on whoever is speaking, and when the speaker changes it cuts to them instead of panning across.
Game streams
Kick gives the stream's category, so with Gaming / Reaction ticked a highlight is judged for that kind of game, and the webcam and the game share the clip in one of eleven layouts. Game stream clips.
Already vertical
A vertical recording of your stream already has its phone layout. Add it as a file with Vertical Live on and the layout is kept.
A free Opus Clip alternative for Kick
Cloud clippers are metered: their plans count minutes, credits or clips a month, and Kick streams run for hours. Clips Kitty does the work on your PC, so the length of the stream stops mattering.
- Free, with no paid tier. Open source under AGPL-3.0. No subscription and no per-clip fee.
- No limits to run into. No watermark, no clip cap, and exports that never expire.
- Local. The VOD is downloaded to your PC and stays there.
- The catch. You need a Windows PC with 16 GB of RAM, and an NVIDIA graphics card makes it far faster. A cloud tool runs in a browser on anything, a phone included, and suits you better if you clip only now and then.
How it compares with Opus Clip, Klap, Vizard and CapCut, with current prices.
Hands-off: watch a Kick channel
Add a Kick channel to the channels Clips Kitty watches, and each new VOD is clipped by itself. With publishing on, the clips are posted too, from a spare PC or a mini PC that is left running.
Good to know
- Finished VODs only. Live streams are deliberately not supported.
- Kick VODs download as H.264, which decodes fast in hardware. Long Kick streams process at roughly the same speed as Twitch ones.
- No Kick account needed. No login, no API key, no rate limit to worry about.
- Posting is optional. Clips are yours to upload by hand, or you can turn on publishing and send them to YouTube, TikTok, Instagram and six more at once through WoopSocial or Upload-Post on your own account. This is the one part that is not local.

Questions
How do I turn a Kick VOD into TikTok clips?
Copy the VOD's kick.com/video link into Clips Kitty and press Generate clips. The VOD is downloaded to your PC, the moments worth posting are picked out, and each comes back as a 9:16 clip with the speaker in frame and captions burned in. Upload them to TikTok, YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels by hand, or turn on publishing.
Is there a free Kick clip generator?
Yes. Clips Kitty is free and open source under AGPL-3.0. There is no paid tier, no watermark and no cap on clips, and it runs on your own Windows PC.
Kick has no chat replay. Does that hurt the clips?
No. Kick keeps no chat once a stream ends, so there is nothing to read, but chat was only ever a small capped bonus. The clips are picked from the video itself: what was said, how it sounded and how it looked.
Does it need my Kick account?
No. There is no login and no API key.
Can it clip a Kick stream while it is live?
No. It works on finished VODs only, by design.
Does it work for game streams on Kick?
Yes. Tick Gaming / Reaction: Kick gives the stream's category, the webcam and the game share the clip in one of eleven layouts, and in-game moments count when the clips are picked.
What PC do I need to clip Kick VODs?
A Windows 10 or 11 PC with 16 GB of RAM, ideally with an NVIDIA graphics card. On a PC too old to run the AI, the clip scoring and transcription can run through your own OpenRouter account instead: in our test, a 2-hour stream cost about 11 cents.
